Tuning of the Life Energy Lines or Sen, Which Maintain the Balance of the Four Elements

In Thailand, primarily medical workers are recently campaigning to establish regulations concerning "Orthodox Thai Massage," however, in Japan, "Thai Massage" cannot legally be performed as a medical practice. Accordingly, Thai Massage in Japan has developed as "Thai Stretching" for relaxation purposes, and MIYABI performs the following therapies.

Bangkok StyleThai Stretching

In Thai Stretching, the therapist works the entire body starting from the soles of the feet and moving towards the head. The treatment addresses fatigue, chills, edema, listlessness, stiff shoulders, and the like in all areas of the body.

  • Dry hands: Cold fingers, stiff shoulders, stress, stiff joints, insomnia
  • Dry face: Eyestrain, jaw arthritis, edema, mimic muscle tension
  • Dry feet: Cold toes, languor, edema, fatigue
  • Dry head: Eyestrain, improvement of blood circulation to the scalp, stiff shoulders

Women Only
Oil Treatment

Thai oil treatment is characterized by a firm impression. Using oil and the palms of the hands, it is a "body and skincare" approach that tunes "Sen" energy lines and balances the entire body. Thanks to the ingredients of the oil, it is also effective for promoting beautiful skin and normalizing the skin's barrier functions through moisturizing.

Footcare

In footcare, oil is used from the knees to the toes. When the foot muscles become stiff, you tend to lose your center of gravity and balance in posture. Therefore, by softening the soles of the feet, this treatment stimulates the body to return to a balanced condition.
By stimulating the "reflexology zones" in the soles of the feet, an indirect effect is imparted to the bodily organs, thereby internally inviting the body to enter into a state that is more conducive to self-healing.

Combination

By combining multiple menu items, you can obtain a synergistic effect that provides a greater feeling of relaxation, pleasant stimulation, and enhanced mental and physical balance. At the start, the therapist will conduct a counseling session and propose the combination that is ideally suited to your physical condition.

Oils Used in MIYABI

MIYABI offers two types of plant-based oils. Our carrier oil, which is almost odorless and imparts minimal skin irritation, is popular with customers who have family pets. In addition, you can choose from two types of herbal oils (with herb aroma).

About Traditional
Thai Therapies

Four Element Theory

According to Traditional Thai Therapies, the life balance of humans is maintained by energy flows comprising four elements. When the four elements work in good balance, the human body is healthy, however, if even one of the elements is upset, it will impact the other elements.

  • Earth → Muscles, bones, organs (physical, tangible objects)
  • Water → Blood, lymphatic fluid, perspiration, tears (liquids)
  • Wind → Breath, circulation (flows)
  • Fire → Body temperature, digestion, metabolism (homeostasis, chemical reactions)

Sen Theory

The human body is thought to contain 72,000 life energy lines known as "Sen" lines. Sen theory provides the basis for understanding which parts of the body to treat to ensure that the four elements work in good balance. Most of the 10 principal Sen lines are situated in the legs; thus the basic approach in Thai Massage is to start the treatment from the legs.

Foot Reflexology Chart
The soles of the feet and palms of the hands contain zones known as "reflexology zones," which are gathering points for terminal nerves. By stimulating these "reflexology zones," an indirect effect is imparted to the bodily organs, thereby internally inviting the body to enter into a state that is more conducive to self-healing.
In Traditional Thai Therapies, it has long been taught that 10 energy lines run through the human body, which is regarded as a single energy entity, from the top of the head to the toes.
